| In addition, the idea of an SEM course for engineers was requested by several members and at the end of the year preparations were underway to offer such a course late in the summer at U. C. Davis. |

John Dorn Award: This award is given to a Ph.D. student in the last year of his or her studies. This year the award went to Joshua Kuntz, a student at U. C. Davis.
Scholastic Achievement Award: This award is given to outstanding students from U. C. Berkeley and U. C. Davis. This year awards were given to: Aaron Broumas, Daniel Coyle, Daniela Fredrick, Crystal Merril, and Leslie Williams.
Outstanding Community College Student Awards: These awards are given to outstanding students in academic and technical programs at regional community colleges. Two nominations from each school are considered. This year the awards were given to: Douglas Wong and Robert Herrn from Los Medanos Community College.
